Senior Backend Software Engineer
About the job
As an senior backend engineer at Reworkd, you’ll shape the future of how our LLM systems interact with the browser. In your first month you may:
- Optimize our queuing system to handle 1M+ compute heavy (Playwright) jobs a day
- Migrate an existing pool of batch workers off of AWS to bare metal
- Enhance autoscaling / deployment strategy using K8s or similar technologies
Responsibilities:
- Leading and collaborating on mission critical features / bugs
- Promoting engineering best practices throughout the rest of the team
- Ensuring that our tech stack is able to scale with our hyper growth
Qualifications and Skills:
- Located in the SF Bay Area or able to relocate to the Bay Area
- 3+ years experience writing production grade Python (+TypeScript). Bonus if you have experience with NextJS, FastAPI, and SQLAlchemy/SQLModel.
- Prior experience building and managing distributed / batch job systems
- Proficiency with optimizing queries in MySQL, Postgres, or similar SQL based database
- Experienced with hosting on AWS and/or bare metal (knowledge of K8s is a plus)
- Bonus: prior experience as an operator or founding employee at another startup
- Bonus: deep knowledge of modern web automation techniques (e.g. Selenium, Playwright, CDP protocol, proxies etc.)
Compensation:
The base compensation for this role is $130,000 - $180,000 USD per year. In addition, you will also receive equity-based compensation, a top tier medical/dental/vision plan, and unlimited PTO. In addition, we also host weekly team outings, team dinners and will even give you a haircut (no seriously, our COO is a barber).
Reworkd is an in-person company, our brand new office is located in the heart of San Francisco. Successful candidates will be required to relocate if they do not already live in the Bay Area.

Step 1: 30 min intro call with a founder
Step 2: 1 hour technical call with founding team
