We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help shape the future of Opta Vision - a critical platform used to deliver detailed, post-match sports insights to professional clubs and broadcasters. You’ll be joining a highly technical team responsible for building and maintaining complex backend systems that power data pipelines and APIs for global clients.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain core backend systems for the Opta Vision platform.
• Own and evolve the platform’s infrastructure (Python, AWS, Kubernetes).
• Support smooth, scalable integration of CV/ML data pipelines.
• Drive architectural decisions and improve development workflows across squads.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to identify, shape and deliver technical solutions.
• Help elevate the overall engineering culture through mentorship and code reviews.

Requirements:

• Proven experience building and maintaining scalable backend systems in Python.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes and infrastructure automation.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of large technical areas.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with distributed squads.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with ML or data experts.
• Bonus 1: Understanding of Machine Learning or Computer Vision workflows.
• Bonus 2: Interest in football or experience working with sports data.
