About the job

Condensed matter theory group at Hanyang University (Seoul, Korea) expects to appoint Postdoctoral Scholars in theoretical physics, beginning Jan, 2026. 

Postdoctoral Scholar appointments are intended to provide a full-time training program of advanced academic preparation and research training under the mentorship of a faculty member (Prof. Sangmo Cheon and Prof. Moon Jip Park). 

Applications are welcome from various areas of theoretical physics including condensed matter physics, quantum information, string theory. 

Outstanding research in theoretical physics appropriate to level of position and ability to identify and pursue research problems independently while working in HYU uniquely collaborative setting. 

The initial appointment will be for two years (2026-2027), with the possibility of renewal for a third year, contingent on continued funding and a reasonable level of research performance. 

Position Details

•Duration: Initial 2-year appointment, extendable up to a third years based on performance.
•Salary: ₩80,000,000 to ₩100,000,000 KRW per year (including the four major social insurance and severance pay) depending on qualifications. (USD 58,000~73,000 approximately) 

The application must consist of cover letter, curriculum vita, publication list, statement of research interests. The three letters of reference may be requested after an initial interview.

This position is supported by Brain pool fellowship. It is expected that this fellowship involve international collaborative work with institutions abroad. Successful candidates will work in close collaboration with:
