Alabama State University, Department of Public Safety invites qualified individuals to submit an applications for the position of Police Officer. This is an on-going announcement for the purpose of collecting applications to be considered when a position becomes available.
Under direct supervision, the police officer performs duties relating to the protection of University students, faculty, staff, personal and institution property through the enforcement of law and university rules.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reports to the shift supervisor and patrols university property on foot and in motorized vehicles to preserve law and order
- Prevent and discover the commissions of crimes
- Answers calls and complaints involving fire, automobile accidents, felonies and other misdemeanors
- Administer first aid, conducts preliminary investigations, gathers information and prepares detailed accident investigation reports
- Interviews person with complaints and inquires and attempts to make proper disposition or direct them to proper authorities
- Attend regular training classes in police methods, first aid, target practice and many other law enforcement related work as required
Must be a high school graduate or GED approved by the State Department of Education, 21 years old, have a valid driver license with an insurable driving record and must not have been convicted of a felony, misdemeanor involving force, violence, or moral turpitude are required. Must have the ability to be certified by the Alabama Peace Officers Standard and Training Commission.
