About the job
At IMC, technology is not a department; it’s at the heart of everything we do. Developed in house, our innovative software makes millions of trading decisions daily, and we win by making better and faster decisions than our competition.
IMC’s Global Research Cluster team provides the compute and storage platform that powers our Researchers. It’s a large-scale, multi-location environment, with a strong focus on automation and self-service. We use Go as our primary language for platform automation and tooling.
Your Core Responsibilities
As a Platform Software Engineer, you’ll join a multidisciplinary team and partner closely with Kubernetes, Storage, Linux, Security, and Research teams. You take ownership for end-to-end product development – from requirements gathering to production. You write reliable, high-performance services and automation with strong automated tests and frequent, small deployments. You’ll make data-informed trade-offs across performance, simplicity, scalability, reliability, and cost. You’ll design, build, and operate platform automation for fleet provisioning/configuration, automated hardware testing & failure management, storage and data orchestration, cloud enablement, multi-cluster management, and cost management/FinOps. Our stack evolves with the problem: engineers choose the best tool for the job. If a new technology can add value, we invest in exploring, adopting, and developing it.
Your Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
- Strong programming skills in Go (primary) and Python.
- Depth across Kubernetes, Linux, Storage and Networking fundamentals
- Experience in the following areas are nice to have - IaC/GitOps (ArgoCD), observability & tracing (Prometheus, Grafana), security & policy-as-code (OPA, secrets management), FinOps practices and platform product thinking.
- Experience gathering business requirements, communicating with key stakeholders and delivering value quickly, able to deal with uncertainty and ambiguity in a rapidly evolving environment.
- Ability to drive greenfield work with high ownership and minimal supervision.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills; ability to solve problems creatively and proactively
- Comfortable using AI coding assistants as part of your workflow to increase quality and speed.
- Prior knowledge of trading / capital markets is not required. Curiosity and a willingness to learn is.
