PHP Developer

Your Role at Batesville:

As a PHP Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining dynamic web applications with a strong focus on performance, security, and user accessibility.  This role will require collaboration with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver customized high-quality solutions.  This role will require a strong background in PHP, a deep understanding of web technologies, and experience building scalable, high-performance web applications. The Developer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing web-based solutions that meet business needs while adhering to industry best practices.

• The expected base salary range for this role is $65,000 to $75,000 per year. Actual compensation within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
• In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based bonuses or other forms of incentive compensation.

What You’ll Do:

• Application Development:
  • Design, develop, and maintain web applications using PHP and related technologies.
  • Write clean, well-structured, and efficient code that adheres to coding standards and best practices.
  • Build and maintain backend components, RESTful APIs, and database systems to support web applications
• System Integration and Customization:
  • Integrate third-party services, APIs, and libraries into existing systems
  • Customize and extend existing web applications to meet evolving business requirements
  • Ensure seamless integration of front-end and back-end components
• Database and Data Management:
  • Design and optimize database schemas and queries to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • Work with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and ensure data integrity and performance
  • Implement data caching strategies to enhance application performance
• Testing, Debugging, and Maintenance:
  • Perform unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure application functionality and reliability.
  • Identify and fix bugs, performance issues, and security vulnerabilities in a timely manner
  • Maintain and update existing applications, ensuring compatibility with new technologies and platforms
• Collaboration and Documentation:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and other developers, to deliver high-quality solutions
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and API documentation
• Continuous Learning and Improvement:
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in PHP development.
  • Propose and implement improvements to development processes, tools, and frameworks.

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years related PHP development experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice to Haves:

• Proficiency in PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or CodeIgniter
• Strong understanding of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and writing efficient SQL queries
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Experience with front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) preferred
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) preferred
• Understanding of RESTful API design and implementation preferred
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks preferred
