Part Time Teaching Assistant Position

Saul Mirowitz Jewish Community School is seeking a nurturing, student-centered, and collaborative part-time Teaching Assistant to support our 2nd Grade classroom. The ideal candidate is eager to work closely with lead teachers and young children in a joyful, inquiry-based environment that fosters curiosity, empathy, and foundational learning. Candidates do not need to be Jewish for this general studies position, but should be excited to support a community that celebrates Jewish values and experiential learning.

• Support the lead teacher in creating a warm, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
• Work directly with students one-on-one, in small groups, and in whole class settings to reinforce instruction and provide academic and emotional support.
• Assist with classroom management and help ensure student safety and engagement.
• Collaborate with the lead teacher and other colleagues to implement instructional activities and classroom routines.
• Help prepare materials, organize classroom supplies, and support classroom transitions.
• Communicate respectfully and effectively with students, teachers, and families.
• Participate in recess, lunch, and arrival/dismissal duties.
• Attend relevant faculty meetings, in-service days, and school events.
• Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the school and to the growth of every child.

A associate’s degree in education or similar is strongly preferred. Ideal candidates have experience working with elementary students, a flexible and team-oriented approach, excellent written and oral communication skills, exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, superior interpersonal skills, a sense of humor, and a positive demeanor.
