POSITION TITLE: Paraprofessional (multiple openings)
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Two years postsecondary study, or an Associate's Degree (or higher) required.
2. Bachelor's degree preferred with educational experience.
REPORTS TO: Principal, Administrator and/or Special Education Administrator
PURPOSE: To enhance student achievement by assisting the classroom or special education teacher with student instruction, and/or supporting the efficient operation of the building.
RESPONSIBILITIES, DEPENDING ON JOB ASSIGNMENT, MAY INCLUDE:
- Assisting teachers/ supervisors by performing recordkeeping, data collection, and filing and by implementing modifications and accommodations as required by IEPs, 504s and behavior plans.
- Working with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Supporting students in nonacademic areas.
- Maintaining a high level of ethical and professional behavior and confidentiality with regard to student matters and all other confidential school business.
- Providing a safe environment for students.
- Covering for teachers when they are in a meeting.
- Following district policies and procedures in assisting and motivating students in academic, social, and community environments.
- Performing general / building specific clerical tasks.
- Greeting visitors in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Performing any other task relevant to the job that may be assigned by the teacher or Supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND EVALUATION: Wages, length or work day/week/year, terms of employment and evaluations will be in accordance with the provisions of the negotiated contract.
