Job Title: Chinese Engineer – Operations & Maintenance (O&M)
Location: Kwala Industrial Park, Tanzania
Reporting To: Business Head
Department: Operations & Maintenance (O&M)
Position Type: Full-time, On-site
Job Purpose:
To support and coordinate day-to-day O&M activities within Kwala Industrial Park, specifically assisting Chinese and other international investors in resolving infrastructure and utility-related matters. The role requires effective bilingual communication skills and technical understanding to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the key liaison for Chinese-speaking investors on all utility connection and infrastructure-related issues (power, water, sewer, drainage, gas etc.).
- Support the O&M team in coordinating utility connections and resolving infrastructure-related concerns of all investors, ensuring prompt action and follow-up.
- Translate and interpret between Chinese and English during technical discussions, site visits, and investor meetings.
- Take care of O&M activities and flag issues that require escalation or intervention.
- Facilitate coordination between Chinese contractors, consultants, and internal teams for smooth execution of infrastructure services.
- Maintain logs and documentation related to investor requests, complaints, and resolution timelines.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports, inspection notes, and updates in both English and Chinese, as required.
- Contribute to development and implementation of standard operating procedures and service protocols.
- Raising invoices for collection of service charges to investors for utilities provided and coordinate with them to get timely payments.
- Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards across all O&M activities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Civil or equivalent).
- Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in infrastructure, utilities, or O&M roles.
- Prior experience working in industrial parks or large-scale infrastructure projects preferred.
- Strong communication skills in both Mandarin Chinese and English (speaking, reading, and writing).
- Familiarity with infrastructure service systems and basic utility design principles.
- Experience working in multicultural and international environments is a plus.
