The Nuclear Medicine Division at UPMC and the UPMC/University of Pittsburgh invites applications for an academic nuclear medicine physician faculty position.  The Division of Nuclear Medicine encompasses a broad and comprehensive program of clinical and research activities with state-of-the-art facilities and exceptional faculty expertise to provide outstanding patient care, teaching, and research opportunities. The Division provides comprehensive diagnostics and radiopharmaceutical therapy services to the center’s five main core hospitals in the city of Pittsburgh, including the Hillman Cancer Center. Additional imaging services are provided across multiple centers across UPMC network.   

UPMC is a world leader in research and development of both instrumentation and radiotracers. The first PET/CT scanner was invented at UPMC, and we have over 100 radiolabeled compounds for human and animal use, including Pittsburgh Compound B (PiB). The facilities include state of the art whole body scanner quadra amongst other multiple PET/CT scanners, SPECT/ CT throughout the network. The division conducts large volumes of general nuclear medicine, oncologic and non-oncologic imaging, neuroimaging, PET CT imaging. The division also provides substantial volume of radionuclide therapies including pluvicto and lutathera as well as non-FDA approved therapies via participation of clinical trials. In addition, dedicated didactic and clinical teaching is provided to ACGME accredited Diagnostic Radiology residency program trainees and a dedicated PET/CT fellowship

Duties for this position will consist of a mix of clinical, teaching, and academic responsibilities.  Candidates with interest in academic and clinical nuclear medicine with strong skills in PET CT and theragnostic will be desirable.  The position will be based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Minimum requirements:

  • MD degree, or equivalent.
  • Board-eligible or board-certified by the American Board of Radiology and/ or the American Board of Nuclear Medicine.
  • Eligible for unrestricted licensure in Pennsylvania.
  • Completion of a Nuclear Medicine fellowship training is also required for ABR eligible/certified candidates.
