Peraton is seeking a Network Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This individual is responsible for providing engineering expertise for network operations and maintenance. The network engineer will support the operations and maintenance of the customer’s networking infrastructure, and assisting in the deployment, operations, and maintenance of the customer’s overall infrastructure.
Must be available to periodically provide after-hours and weekend support.
Day to Day Work Responsibilities:
- Provides operations management and maintenance of the customer’s networking infrastructure pertinent to load balancing, server connectivity, and maintenance of the production and test environments.
- Participate in the evaluation of potential technical solutions and capacity requirements to meet business needs.
- Review the customer's network and practices looking for opportunities to enhance network functionality, performance, and reliability by utilizing the server load balancing platform.
- Participate in providing specifications and detail schematics for system architecture for the enterprise.
- Advises network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations.
- Participate in the development of documentation, including diagrams, standards, specifications, and operating procedures.
- Monitor for opportunities to enhance the customer network/system performance or reliability.
- Monitor for opportunities to improve the customer service delivery practices.
- Perform on-going management of network, server load balancing, server installations, and upgrade projects.
- Provide third-level support and troubleshooting of network problems.
- Maintain and extend expertise in applicable areas of network and computer hardware and software technology.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree and 0 years’ experience or Associate degree and 2 years’ experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 4 years' experience
- U.S. Citizenship required; Must have the ability to obtain a DHS Entrance on Duty (EOD) clearance
- Network Engineering / IT infrastructure experience
- Experience with network/system performance
- Understanding of change, release, and configuration management
- Knowledge of Client business environment and requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with networking maintenance and operations
- Knowledge of security operations and support
- Experience in firewall operations and support
- Experience in Wintel operations and support for Windows 2019, Windows 2016 and Windows 2012
- Possess an Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) 4 certification or the ability to obtain within one month
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and use of judgment
- Ability to work effectively and a self-starter
