Person Specification

Our vision requires us to have high standards. We want our trainees to be the leaders of the creative industries one day and thus our staff and provision needs to reflect this, otherwise our work won’t achieve our goals. We are looking for people who can demonstrate the following:

Communication and relationships

  • Excellent relationship builder with young people, parents, school staff and external stakeholders

  • Be passionate about our exciting vision of 'industry readiness' and 'industry access' for all trainees by upholding exceptionally high standards regardless of trainee background

  • Embody our 'growth mindset' approach as a highly ambitious, reflective practitioner who actively seeks out feedback at every opportunity

  • Be a team player, highly committed to working collaboratively to implement and refine ELAM's processes and systems

  • Demonstrate high levels of professionalism.

Teaching

  • Undergraduate degree (desirable);

  • Qualified teacher status (desirable);

  • Track record of achieving outstanding student results;

  • Experience of writing schemes of work (desirable);

  • Excellent organisation and planning skills;

  • Outstanding classroom practice with a proven record of ensuring the excellent progression of students across all abilities;

  • Comfortable with IT and technology, specifically the Google Suite (Google Classroom, Gmail, Docs etc);

  • Experience of using data and other contextual information to inform practice;

  • Ability to innovate and look at conventional practices and problems from new angles to achieve ambitious outcomes; and

  • Skilled at implementing and developing student culture of high expectations and achievement.

Collaboration

  • Experience collaborating with other teachers or departments to improve practice;

  • Outstanding relationship building skills;

  • Engaging and able to quickly build rapport with young people in a KS5 environment;

  • Able to establish good working relationships with staff, trainees, parents and other relevant stakeholders including external agencies;

  • Written and verbal communication skills; and

  • Able to coach and support trainees individually as well as in groups.

Passion and knowledge

  • Take a proactive approach to their professional work and regularly go the extra mile;

  • A belief in the capacity for achievement in spite of circumstance;

  • A commitment to CPD and strengthening pedagogy;

  • A strong aptitude for learning to continuously develop personally and professionally; and

  • Take a solutions focused approach to problems they encounter.
