A&O Shearman Finance The Belfast Finance department provides services to the A&O Shearman network of offices covering management and financial accounting & reporting, revenue control (including eBilling), credit control, accounts payable and tax. Offices currently served are London, Belfast, US, South Africa, Israel, UAE, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. What you will do Functional Leadership: Support the Senior Management Accountant in internal management accounting & reporting to support the offices we serve; Assist in the preparation and processing of month end journal entries; Prioritise work effectively, making realistic compromises when necessary in order to deliver; Support the Senior Management Accountant through the annual financial audit process, providing accurate information to the auditors in a timely manner; Ensure that financial data is accurately captured in the financial and forecasting systems; Perform regular balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness; Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or variances identified during reconciliations; Maintain detailed records of all reconciliations performed and ensuring aged reconciling items are escalated to the Senior Management Accountant and the Finance Manager in a timely manner; Work closely with other Finance teams such as the local Finance team in New York as well as Group Finance and Accounts Payable to ensure accurate financial reporting; Build strong, trusting relationships with the customer (the local Financial Controller and CFO), provide constructive feedback to the client regarding issues and problems encountered while delivering the service; and Anticipate the needs of the customer and provide timely solutions and opinions on complex matters. What you will have A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a commercial accounting role; Suitable for individuals who are studying towards membership of a recognised accounting body; Experience of processing large volumes of transactions; Good numeracy and literacy skills; and Computer literate with strong Microsoft Office skills and direct experience of complex finance systems. About you Well organised, able to make progress in a range of areas, ensuring deadlines are met; Ability to deliver high quality client service by building strong trusted advisor relationships with clients and senior management; Good communicator, being able to tailor conversations to non-financial orientated individuals/teams; Ability to balance on-going projects with business priorities; and Ability to apply technical knowledge and understanding and identify creative solutions to technical issues.
