Responsibilities:

• Direct Nursing Care: Provide comprehensive care to assigned residents, addressing hygiene, physical comfort, medical treatment, nutritional needs, ambulation, exercise, and elimination.
• Medication Administration: Administer medications except for blood products, the first IV solution with medications, IV push medications, and IV medications via central lines.
• IV Therapy: Administer IV therapy with limitations; certified LPNs may perform venipuncture, start IV fluids, monitor fluid rates, replace IV bags, and discontinue IV fluids.
• Treatment Administration: Follow facility policy and procedures for administering treatments.
• Resident Preparation: Prepare residents for diagnostic tests, surgeries, medical examinations, and transportation.
• Resident Admission: Assist with resident admissions according to facility policies and help them adjust to the environment.
• Person Centered Care Planning: Participate in care planning and coordinate nursing care, contributing to and updating care plans.
• Health Teaching: Assist RNs with health education for residents and families.
• Resident and Family Relationships: Establish positive relationships with residents and families, adhering to the Residents’ Bill of Rights.
• Nutritional Needs: Observe and participate in meeting residents' nutritional needs, including monitoring intake during meals.
• Post-Mortem Care: Assist in post-mortem care as needed.
• Emergency Assistance: Assist RNs and physicians during emergencies, including CPR.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Licensed and currently registered as a Practical Nurse in New York State.
• Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience preferred.
• Demonstrates competence and experience in nursing skills within the scope of practice.
• New York State CPR Certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
