About the job
Lead Teacher of English MPS + TLR 2a (£6515)
Required from 1st September 2018
Great Western Academy will open in North Swindon in September 2018 with students in years 7 and 12. This is a rare opportunity to be a key middle leader in the founding team of staff which will shape the Academy from the very start. We are seeking a dynamic and creative individual who will inspire both students and staff and help to ensure the Academy is outstanding from day one.
The successful candidate will lead teaching and learning in English and so have a fundamental impact on the quality of the education our students receive. They will have the opportunity to shape the curriculum and assessment methods, building upon the Academy’s focus on enterprise and entrepreneurship and making best use of the excellent ICT facilities available. There will also be the opportunity to take a lead in a whole-school initiative as suits the candidate’s strengths.
The reality of opening a new school is that middle and senior leadership roles will develop significantly as the Academy expands providing the opportunity for the right candidate to develop their career in several possible directions over the coming years.
Great Western Academy aims to radically improve the life chances of every student who attends. We will use our brand new building and state-of-the-art facilities to help achieve this, but it will be a fantastic team of new staff who will turn our vision into reality. If you have the proven ability to inspire and lead in the classroom and beyond then we would be delighted to hear from you.
Further details are available on the Academy website www.gwacademy.co.uk and in the information documents attached. Informal conversations with the Principal, Graham Davis, are available prior to application; please contact Rebecca Mathis on 01793 732809 to arrange this, or, over the Christmas period, email Rebecca.mathis@newcollege.ac.uk to arrange a call back from Mr Davis.
Applications should be submitted electronically to humanresources@newcollege.ac.uk by 4pm Monday 8th January 2018.
Interviews will take place on 16th January 2018
