Responsibilities
1. Build and lead a high-performing team of data scientists
2. Work with cross-functional partners in product, actuarial, marketing, finance, and operations to achieve business goals
3. Prioritize and lead deep dives into our data to uncover new product and business opportunities
4. Develop analytical frameworks, roadmaps, and metrics for the team and broader organization
5. Collaborate with other leaders and executives to build data-informed business strategy and product roadmaps
6. Serve as a champion of sound decision-making at all levels of the company
7. Keeps current with market trends and demands.
8. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Master's Degree – with coursework focused on advanced algorithms, mathematics in computing, data structures etc.
• 5 or more years’ experience in a data science or advanced analytics related role
• Knowledge of programming languages like SQL, Python, R, and Scala
• Strong mathematics skills (e.g., statistics, algebra)
• Advanced ability to perform exploratory data analysis
• Experience with common data science toolkits
• Working knowledge of statistics
• Exceptional technical writing skills
• Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way
• Ability to visualize data in the most effective way possible for a given project or study
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with machine learning and AI
• Familiarity with data management tools
• Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds
• Excellent attention to detail
• Experience with deep learning frameworks like Tensorflow or PyTorch and associated high-level API’s like Keras

Qualifications
Qualified applicants would have an MA/MSC/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Economics or other quantitative field, and at least 5 years’ experience in the following skill areas:
- Developing and implementing loss cost models, retention, conversion, and any other relevant pricing models for commercial insurance
- Knowledge and familiarity with embedding into the model and pricing applications various 3rd party commercial insurance data sources
- Filing of predictive models and pricing structures across the different states
- Python and R
- Machine learning algorithms (i.e. GLM, Boosting, Deep Learning, etc...)
- Model performance measures and validation techniques (i.e. K-fold cross-validation, train/test split, etc...)
- SQL and relational databases (both transactional and analytical environments)
- Deploying predictive models into production
- Collaborative development and version control systems (i.e. Git)
- Strong leadership capabilities and great working relationships with different stakeholders
- Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way
- Ability to visualize data in the most effective way possible for a given project or study
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds
- Excellent attention to detail
Bonus points for experience in:
- FCAS or ACAS accreditation
- Management experience in leading a team of highly qualified Data Scientists
- Familiarity with cloud environments and services
