Kaitohu Te Mātāwaka (Wellington)

The Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand has an opportunity for a senior position to support the work of Te Mātāwaka, the Green Party's Māori and Pasifika Caucus.

As Kaitohu Te Mātāwaka you will advise the Green Party Co-leaders and MPs on kaupapa Māori political issues.

Some responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain and report against the Te Mātāwaka strategy
  • Work with the Leadership team and Caucus to plan Green Party issues/portfolio campaigns throughout the term, ensuring strong kaupapa Māori elements are incorporated into priority campaigns
  • Oversee te Tiriti o Waitangi and/or kaupapa Māori-based advice on major campaigns
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key external organisations , particularly Māori organisations
  • Ensure Te Mātāwaka MPs are supported to fulfil their parliamentary duties with a particular focus on te taha Māori, including duties relating to legislation and select committees

Based in our Wellington Parliamentary offices on the Parliament precinct, you will be an active member of the senior management team.

This role is for 40 hours per week, but for the right candidate we would also be open to anything between 0.8 full time equivalent and full time. The nature of this role means that some flexibility in hours, including travel and occasional weekend work, will also be required. This is an events-based, fixed-term role.

The appointing salary for this role is $120,000 - $138,000 per annum. Appointments will be based on skills and experience.
