Role Summary: Stand is building a new kind of climate-focused insurer, with capital discipline and strategic foresight at its core. The Head of Finance will lead Stand’s finance organization — shaping financial strategy, driving performance management, and ensuring long-term financial resilience as we scale.

This is a strategic finance leadership role, responsible for guiding company-wide financial decision-making and aligning capital, growth, and operational priorities. You’ll manage and grow the finance function while acting as a key partner to the CEO, executive team, and board.

What You’ll Do:

Strategic Finance Leadership

• Lead Stand’s financial strategy, planning, and performance management to drive sustainable growth.

• Partner with leadership to translate financial insights into business strategy, resource allocation, and operational decision-making.

• Develop and evolve forecasting models, growth plans, and capital allocation frameworks.

• Provide financial leadership on fundraising, reinsurance, and strategic partnerships.

• Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Head of Capital Markets, balancing innovation with financial discipline.

Financial Management & Governance

• Oversee the company’s accounting, FP&A, and reporting functions, ensuring integrity and transparency.

• Establish and maintain robust financial controls, compliance, and reporting processes across entities.

• Lead annual budgeting, multi-year planning, and scenario modeling.

• Manage investor reporting and board-level financial communications.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

• Build, develop, and lead a high-performing finance team aligned with Stand’s mission and growth stage.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Underwriting, and Operations to embed financial strategy across the business.

• Cultivate a culture of financial accountability and strategic thinking across the company.

Qualifications (Must-haves):

• Background in insurance finance (MGA, reciprocal, carrier, reinsurer, or insurtech).

• Strategic finance expertise with strong FP&A, forecasting, and business partnering experience.

• Proven leadership experience scaling finance teams in dynamic, high-growth environments.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial concepts to executives, investors, and regulators.

• Strong accounting and reporting acumen, ideally within regulated entities.

• Entrepreneurial mindset — comfortable with ambiguity, rapid execution, and building from zero-to-one.

Non-Negotiables:

• Deep insurance finance fluency.

• Proven ability to lead financial strategy and governance end-to-end.

• Trusted partner to leadership and investors — ensuring financial clarity, control, and credibility.

Compensation:

The annual base salary range for full-time employees in this position is $225,000 - $275,000 + meaningful Equity Grant.

Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
