GIS Implementation Specialist – Walthamstow – 3 Month Contract – £350.00 per day (Inside IR35, Umbrella) – start date 23/09/2019.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an GIS Implementation Specialist in Walthamstow to help the start the GIS technology and data refesh programme.
Your duties and responsibilities will include;
* Lead and advise the council implementing a centralised, enterprise GIS solution infused with governance and best practice, culminating in a sustainable GIS that they will continuously improve and seek opportunity for.
* Working closely with internal peers they will act as the implementation expert, initially advising on and the ensuring that best practice, governance and data management are first fit for purpose and then stringently implemented during rollout. Using their existing experience of enterprise GIS management achieving an engaging GIS experience, excellent data integrity, a visible data catalogue and insightful spatial analysis to implement the new solution.
* Be the GIS implementation expert across for the organisation – providing specialist expertise and guidance to individual business units while cleaning and moving specific data sets in to the GIS solution following best proactive guidelines.
* Define and update existing GI related governance documents and procedures to meet strategic, operational and legislative needs covering aspects such as data standards, security and permissions as improvements are understood doing rollout.
To be suitable for this opportunity; the following qualifications or experience is required:
* Knowledge of enterprise GIS data management.
* Ability to use Geographic information systems (GIS) to collect, store, analyse, manipulate and present a range of complex geographical and spatial data. Data can come in a range of formats including cartographic, photographic, digital (for example, from satellites) and remote sensing, or in tables and spreadsheets.
* Ability to use GIS technology to overlay all these types of data into one map, manipulating it so that all the sources have the same scales and allowing complex readings to be taken from the map.
* Experience administering an enterprise GIS solution.
* Knowledge of specialised software packages such as ArcGIS or ESRI.
* Familiarity with Ordnance Survey mapping and digitising techniques
* The ability to translate client requirements into working solutions.
36 Hours per week.
