Description
We are looking for a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. Data Center Engineering Operations Technician is a hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation responder. If you like to use apply your electrical and mechanical skills to solve problems, we’d like to meet you. Your work will help to maintain one of the world's largest information system infrastructures.
Key job responsibilities
On-site management of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that work performed is in accordance with established practices, procedures & local legislation.
Maintain performance benchmarks, & prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility infrastructure operations & maintenance.
Generate Change Management requests & Incident Management tickets as directed.
Learn and contribute to documentation relevant to business & facility operations.
Assist with rack installation and the provision of power/cooling.
Become involved with routine maintenance and emergency services on critical systems such as: switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, cooling equipment, building monitoring systems, etc.
Assist and learn about the design, implementation, commissioning and build out of new facilities.
Assist with the management of facility assets.
Participate in Construction & Operational Meetings as required.
Assist with Work Order compliance and review of contractual SLAs.
Interface with Infra Ops teams for day to day operational requirements.
Assist in the resolution of any infrastructure engineering or services issue.
Delivery of exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
A day in the life
Your day-to-day activities will include:
Monitoring alarms and systems that manage power, cooling, and fire suppression in the data center.
Coordinating vendor work on-site to ensure equipment is maintained and uptime is preserved.
Supporting other teams and sites during events and planned works.
Handling rack installations and powering up equipment.
Monitoring and facilitating the handover of new equipment.
Sharing knowledge and supporting new team members.
Participating in event response drills.
