Reports to: Electrical Design Manager
Overview We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading manufacturer in the critical power distribution industry. This role offers the opportunity to work on the design and development of advanced electrical switchgear and associated products for mission-critical applications.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical design, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple disciplines throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical switchgear and critical power distribution systems.
- Create general arrangement drawings and detailed electrical schematics using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Prepare accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and other supporting technical documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of all design activities and documentation.
- Plan and execute design tasks in line with project and master schedules.
- Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve design or production issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for products and processes.
- Mentor and support junior engineers within the design team.
Skills & Experience Required
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an electrical design engineering role.
- Proven ability to read and interpret product standards, customer specifications, and single line diagrams.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical (or similar CAD software) for schematic design.
- Experience creating Bills of Materials and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of power distribution systems such as LV/MV switchgear, busduct, UPS, or related equipment (highly advantageous).
- Knowledge of Energy Management, PLC, or Automation systems beneficial.
- Competent in Microsoft Office tools.
- Methodical approach to problem solving, with strong organizational skills.
- Flexibility to work varied hours and travel occasionally when required.
