About the job

RecruitBlock is exclusively recruiting a Director of Compliance for an international start-up e-money provider. 

This FinTech start-up, which will provide services to B2B customers, is currently seeking to become regulated by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC) and obtain principal membership of Mastercard/Visa.

This Director of Compliance role will be based in Gibraltar with a reduced hours requirement initially, scaling to full-time closer to completion of the GFSC licensing process.

In this Director of Compliance role you will be working within a small team in Gibraltar supporting the regulatory application process, establishing appropriate risk-based compliance policies, procedures and processes and ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance of this FinTech start-up both before and after product launch.

Role

✔ Act as an Approved Person by the GFSC.

✔ Establish and maintain appropriate risk-based compliance monitoring plans and processes that are proportionate to the scale, nature and complexity of the business’s operations.

✔ Design, document and monitor relevant compliance policies and procedures and ensure their ongoing effectiveness.

✔ Proactively analyse regulatory risks and requirements associated with all business products and services and make recommendations.

✔ Deliver relevant management information and reporting to the senior management team.

✔ Represent the business to all external regulatory agencies.

✔ Educate, train and support the business on compliance developments and issues.

✔ Promptly respond to any reasonable request for information from the regulator and/or law enforcement agencies.

Skills

✔ Proven experience as senior level compliance professional, preferably within the FinTech sector.

✔ Previous approval by the GFSC.

✔ Working knowledge of GFSC e-money/payments regulatory environment beneficial.

✔ Experience in building successful working relationships with the GFSC and other relevant agencies.

✔ Ability to advise the leadership team on complex compliance issues.

✔ Experience in external and internal regulatory reporting.

✔ Ability to understand the complexities of procedures and regulations and simplify issues for others.

✔ A track record in the development of dynamic regulated financial products and services.

✔ An analytical mind with excellent communication and presentation skills.

✔ Able to operate as a key member of an international start-up team

✔ UK or EEA passport holder.
