The Azure Edge Networking Team is growing and we’re looking for a creative results-driven Data Scientist who can help build the next generation of Internet Traffic Control system by combining Data Science principles with software development in the networking domain. Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Msc/PHD Degree in Operations Research, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Computer Science, or related field.
- You must be legally authorised to work in Ireland to be eligible for this role.
- (Legally authorised = Has citizenship or has been granted a valid visa or work permit)
- Experience formulating a roadmap of project activity that leads to measurable improvement in business performance metrics over time.
- Proficiency in SQL and working with large datasets.
Other Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Python, Matlab or R, with experience in data science libraries (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, NumPy).
- Expertise in OR tools such as Gurobi, CPLEX, PuLP, or similar solvers.
- Experience developing and deploying optimization or simulation models in production environments.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with dashboarding and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Knowledge of business domains such as networking.

Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy advanced analytical models using machine learning, statistical analysis, and optimization techniques.
- Apply operations research methodologies (e.g., linear programming, integer programming, simulation, queuing theory) to solve real-world business challenges.
- Design and implement decision-support systems that drive operational efficiencies in areas such as supply chain, logistics, workforce planning, pricing, or resource allocation.
- Translate complex analytical results into clear, actionable insights and communicate findings to stakeholders and leadership.
- Collaborate with data engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to gather requirements, validate data, and implement solutions.
- Evaluate and integrate external data sources where relevant to enhance model accuracy.
- Stay current with emerging trends in data science, OR, and analytics tools and technologies.
