WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

At LayerZero, we’re building the future of omnichain interoperability — and data is at the heart of it. Our systems generate vast amounts of on-chain and off-chain data that is critical for business decisions, real-time monitoring, developer tools and user experiences. To unlock this potential, we need robust data infrastructure that scales with the demands of Web3. As a Data Engineer, you’ll design and operate the pipelines and platforms that make our expanding sea of data reliable, accessible, and actionable.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Build pipelines: Design, implement, and maintain reliable batch and real-time data pipelines to process blockchain, system and 3rd party data.
• Model data: Apply Kimball dimensional modeling and SQL best practices to create performant, api and analytics-ready datasets.
• Scale infrastructure: Leverage Snowflake, Postgres, Airflow, AWS (CDK), and Docker to deliver highly available, cost-effective data solutions.
• Enable insights: Partner with analysts, engineers, and product teams to make complex data accessible through APIs, dashboards, and bi tools like Hex.
• Ensure quality: Drive data integrity through monitoring, testing, validation, and documentation.
• Optimize performance: Tune queries, pipelines, and infrastructure for speed and efficiency.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK WITH

You’ll work across a modern data stack that includes Snowflake, Postgres and Airflow. We operate within AWS through CDK and run our Dockerized data services on ECS. Pipelines on Airflow are built in Python while our high performance stand-alone data systems are written in Go. Of course SQL is everywhere. Docker powers our containerized deployments and local development workflows, while Hex and custom APIs help make data accessible to teams across the company and beyond! You’ll work directly with blockchain and Web3 data, designing and implementing systems that handle both batch processing and real-time streaming.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• 5+ years of experience building scalable data systems as a data engineer or similar role
• Experience in performing & communicating strategic data analysis
• Experience leading and influencing the data strategy of your team or organization
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills (Kimball or similar).
• Experience with modern data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, etc.).
• Proficiency in Python or Go for pipeline development.
• Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow or equivalent).
• Experience deploying and operating in AWS and containerized environments.
• Curiosity about Web3 and excitement to work on novel data problems.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with real-time streaming pipelines.
• Exposure to blockchain data and Web3 technologies.
• Experience designing APIs or integrating external data sources.
• Infrastructure operations experience (CDK, Terraform or similar)
