About the job

At Near Space Labs we design, build and operate a fleet of stratospheric robots to image the earth. We launch our proprietary, balloon-based imaging robots to heights between 40,000 and 60,000 feet. From this vantage point, we capture petabytes of imagery for a variety of use cases.

We are seeking a proactive Computer Vision Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will develop and implement cutting-edge algorithms for imagery analysis. You will collaborate closely with data engineers, computer vision specialists, and software engineers to enhance our processing pipelines and quality assurance.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Research, develop and implement Q&A algorithms on imagery using state-of-the-art DL and CV techniques.
  • Improve georeferencing processes and experiment with different approaches.
  • Optimize our deep learning models, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
  • Implement detectors, masks and feature extraction as needed.
  • Implement algorithms for Image Correction with RGB and multispectral sensors, including color correction, geometric correction and radiometry when needed.

Location

This is a position for EU nationals or work permit holders based in Barcelona. You can work from home or the office as needed.

Your Skills

  • 4+ years of experience in a professional software development environment.
  • Degree in computer science, computer vision, machine learning or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Python with extensive experience in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Strong knowledge of image processing techniques, object detection and segmentation (YOLO, Faster R-CNN, Mask R-CNN, etc).
  • Experience in the use of deep learning image architectures and deploying models in production environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based imagery or data pipelines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Knowledge of GDAL and geospatial Python libraries (Shapely, rasterio..) is a plus.
