Background
The Operations, Maintenance and Sustainment (OMS) contract is a single-award, Indefinite-Delivery Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) contract. This contract directly supports the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) out of their facilities in College Park and Suitland, MD; however, due to the nature of the positions we are filling they are eligible for 100% remote work. The folks supporting the OMS contract are responsible for operating, maintaining, sustaining, and disposing of existing legacy satellite ground systems and for on-boarding new, next-generation satellite processing ground systems and capabilities.
ERT is looking to fill multiple AWS Cloud positions to support NOAA under ERT’s OMS contract. The position(s) are full-time with benefits to include Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, and 401(k), to name a few. If you have any of the experience and skills identified below, we would like to talk to you.
Position Description
Will design and code software product components, units, and modules according to detailed specifications in Cloud Infrastructure. Provide AWS Cloud programming and software engineering support for the next generation NOAA satellites using industry standard software engineering techniques (S3, SNS, SQS, Cloud Watch, Docker, K8s). Design, code, test, and document interfaces of moderate to high complexity. Work with NOAA NESDIS government staff to coordinate science products, algorithm development, and science processing. Support scientific processing, the creation and support of Delivered Algorithm Packages, and other research-to- operation efforts. Participates in analysis, development of test plans, tests assigned components and units, and provides test results and recommends corrections to senior developers.
Required Skills
Exposure with one or more platforms and operating systems, and of programming languages. Knowledge of one or more systems architectures, has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Knowledge of Issue Tracking tools and Agile development tools such as JIRA.
Desired
2 + years of experience working in an AWS environment.
Proficiency in Agile methodology and experience building software using Agile development process. Extensive knowledge of one or more platforms, operating systems, programming languages, and architectures.
AWS cloud implementation including design, planning, management, maintenance and support.
Experience in building and deploying Docker Container in Kubernetes on AWS Cloud.
Experience participating in large system and subsystem planning.
Must be a US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident and able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.
Education
Minimum education requirement is a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related discipline, or equivalent. Advanced degree preferred.
