Macildowie are working with this manufacturing client based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, to recruit a Business Development Manager in a brand new role due to growth.

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 basic (with uncapped bonus potential)
Employment type: Permanent, Full-time
Working arrangement: Hybrid (highly flexible)

The role:

This position is focused on developing and winning new business opportunities for bespoke projects. You will:

  • Identify and engage new prospects through networking, exhibitions, cold outreach and referrals

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with senior decision makers

  • Manage a consultative, multi-stage sales cycle including proposals, tenders, audits, and site visits

  • Work on medium to large scale, multi-year contracts

  • Develop creative approaches to generate leads, while also making use of some existing warm opportunities

  • Collaborate closely with internal technical and operational experts throughout the sales process

What we're looking for:

  • Proven track record in B2B sales or business development within a custom or consultative environment

  • Comfortable selling capability and solutions rather than commodity products

  • A natural networker and relationship builder with the ability to open doors

  • Experience of navigating complex, high-trust sales cycles

  • Background in a technical, project-lead/custom-lead or manufacturing environment preferred, though transferable skills will be considered

  • Entrepreneurial, resilient, and able to generate momentum in long lead-time sales cycles
