About the job

Who we are We are seeking a Building Automation System (BAS) Applications Engineer to join our growing team of 30+ members here at Intelli-Building Control & Solutions, LLC (IBCS). Originally a Chicago based start-up in 2009, we now serve the Midwest through several locations that include a sales office in the Chicago Green Exchange, a UL-508A certified panel shop in Lakemoor, IL, and our Indianapolis, Indiana office. In these markets, we act as dealers for Reliable Controls®, Delta Controls® and Lynxspring®. As a controls contractor, IBCS provides turnkey Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems for commercial new construction and retrofit projects. Our team consists of knowledgeable and skilled industry veterans. Our employees’ dedication is proven through our reputation for excellence in the market. Engineering, installing, commissioning, and programming to meet our customer’s needs are our highest priorities. The work we do is unique every day. The Engineering team develops the game plan that allows our Installation team to install each project efficiently and profitably. IBCS engineers are primarily office based and can work from any of our locations. Although it’s not often required, you will occasionally need to travel to job sites to view equipment and attend meetings. The Building Automation System (BAS) Applications Engineer is tasked with learning project scopes by reviewing plans and specifications submitted to IBCS by contractors, and creating a Temperature Control (TC) drawing set according to our negotiated scope of work. This involves the production and submittal of Flow Diagrams, Sequences of Operation, Device Schedules, I/O Wiring Diagrams, Bills of Material, and Hardware or Software Cut Sheets. Our projects include schools, office high-rises, and manufacturing facilities. Typical project scopes include controls for central plants, mechanical room equipment, and field equipment. Specific responsibilities include: · Coordinating with Engineering Firms, General Contractors, and Subcontractors to receive up-to-date project documentation. · Communicating with the Sales staff to understand project scopes, submittal deadlines, and project installation milestones. · Authoring and submitting Requests For Information (RFIs) for project scope clarity. · Selecting parts and materials to be installed, such as Controllers, Valves, Actuators, Relays, Current and Temperature Sensors. · Using MS Visio and MS Office software to engineer submittal documentation. · Revising submitted drawings as directed by the project’s Consulting Engineers or Owners. · Ordering project material in a timely manner to ensure smooth installation workflow and meet construction deadlines. · Communicating with our Installation team to gather feedback and field changes, and keep drawing sets up to date as on-site installation progresses. · Finalizing as-built drawing sets after project completion. · Leading Engineering to Installation team turnover meetings · Staying knowledgeable, familiar, and up to date with IBCS controller lines. We provide top pay and a 401k with an employee match of up to 4%, in addition to full PPO insurance, dental, and vision for workers and their family at no expense to employees. Education reimbursement programs are available. We also evaluate employees for annual raises, bonuses, and provide profit sharing once vested. A candidate must have a strong background and education in the commercial application of HVAC Controls and Building Automation. This includes: · A strong understanding of Mechanical, HVAC, and Electrical system · A minimum of 3 years of experience designing BAS Control systems · A strong understanding of BacNet networks, both MS/TP, and IP · Experience with BAS integration of vendor equipment like VFDs and RTUs · Proficiency in reading and interpreting Plans and Specifications · Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel. · Extensive experience using MS Visio · Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. · A strong understanding of building construction methods and standards · A willingness to continuously learn and grow your Engineering expertise Additional Requirements · Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, Mechanical preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered. · A valid driver's license
