Overview of the Role:

 

We are seeking an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to develop, operate, and continuously improve our cloud-based, multi-tenant technology stack and front-end platform that underpin our comprehensive managed cybersecurity services – and serve as the core of our brand new 24x7x365 Security Operations Center (SOC). In this role, you will engineer seamless integrations with a multitude of client-owned technologies and data sets, ensuring effective ETL processes and data normalization to optimize our platform’s performance and reliability. As a key member of our Cyber Engineering team at a medium to large-sized government contracting firm, you will report to the Director of Cyber Engineering. In addition to leveraging your deep technical expertise to drive the development and evolution of our managed service portfolio, you will collaborate with a dynamic team of 3-5 engineers, consistently pushing the boundaries of innovation in cybersecurity.

 

Responsibilities

The AWS DevOps Engineer will be responsible for building and supporting a new multi-tenant managed detection and response (MDR) platform in AWS from the ground up.

Primary responsibilities include using AWS services to:

  • Develop API calls to extract security events and relevant contextual data from security tools such as CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender, SentinelOne, and Splunk.
  • Ingest, transform, enrich, and normalize streaming security event data.
  • Store normalized data in a time series database and enriched data in a data lake.
  • Build dashboards and correlated queries used by SOC incident response analysts.
  • Develop a web application for CRUD operations to manage customer profiles and configuration parameters.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Using Terraform or CloudFormation to provision AWS infrastructure.
  • Using AWS CI/CD Code* services (CodeCommit, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and CodePipeline).
  • Documenting processes, data transformations and flows.
  • Future 24x7 on-call production support rotation.
  • Commitment to following AWS cloud security and high availability best practices.

 

Qualifications

    • 3+ years working in AWS.

    • S. Citizenship is required.
    • Deep understanding of AWS services and functionalities.
    • Experience developing large data pipelines and ETL processes on large datasets using Kinesis or Data Firehose and Glue.
    • Strong Python scripting skills.
    • Expertise in using Lambda and Step Functions to build distributed applications, automate processes, and orchestrate microservices.
    • Full stack web development.
    • Proficiency in using Terraform or CloudFormation Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
    • Knowledge of AWS Code* services or experience with Git, Jenkins, or equivalent CI/CD tools.
    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    • Communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in AWS GovCloud and/or FedRAMP compliance.
    • Background or strong interest in cybersecurity.
    • Expertise using Security Lake, Timestream, QuickSight, Athena, OpenSearch, Amplify or Elastic Beanstalk AWS services.

Salary: $140,000 - $160,000
