Founded in 2016, Einride became the first company in the world to deploy a cab-less autonomous electric vehicle on a public road (Sweden, 2019). In 2022, we were the first to successfully operate such a vehicle on a US public road. Today our award-winning technology has been launched across 8 countries (and counting). Our clients are some of the world’s biggest shippers, including Fortune 500 companies. We are also operating Sweden’s largest truck dedicated public charging network and counting.

The Tech Operations team is responsible for deploying and maintaining Einride’s autonomous electric truck solution at client sites. Putting theory into practice, they get the wheels of change spinning. As an Autonomous Fleet Technician at Einride, you'll be joining a top talent team of ambitious, creative, kind-hearted people who challenge conventional thinking, think big, and aim for zero.

This position is based in Austin, TX with frequent travel to R&D and customer sites. We recommend you submit your application as soon as possible as selection and interviews are held continually.

You will

  • Inspect and certify vehicles are safe to operate according to servicing guidelines
  • Perform issue diagnosis, escalation, and resolution related to safety concerns, vehicle platform, and autonomous systems
  • Perform quality service and repair of vehicle components and autonomous sub-systems
  • Document fleet service and repair in tracking systems and processes.
  • Drive fleet availability and cost improvements
  • Mechanical aptitude, proficiency in using hand and power tools
  • Comfortable with wiring (soldering, splicing, crimping)
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, product, and safety teams to communicate product feedback
  • Assist with managing vehicle insurance and registration
  • Source and manage regional vendors, facilities equipment, and supplies
  • Utilize project / issue tracking tools (Jira, Fleetio, or similar)
  • Maintain a clean and professional working environment
  • Support incident response procedures

We expect you to have:

  • Experience repairing and maintaining commercial fleet vehicles.
  • Experience in at least one of the following: commercial heavy duty vehicles, autonomous vehicles, or electric vehicles.
  • Ability to read, inspect and implement directions, as outlined and depicted in electrical harness diagrams and CAD drawings
  • Safety focused mindset. You are not afraid to raise immediate safety concerns and suggest paths to resolution.
  • Reliable and consistent. You ensure your work is thorough and always holds a high standard. Your process is methodical through the use of documentation and tracking tools.
  • Clear communication. You are confident in communicating feedback to engineers and sharing your knowledge to improve the product and operation.
  • Creative thinking. You think outside the box to create or bring solutions to problems when the solution is not always clear.
  • Flexibility. Able to travel to R&D and customer sites to perform modifications and vehicle maintenance (up to 80%) with short term notice. Sometimes traveling on a weekend to ensure customer operations are not impacted. Able to travel internationally to Sweden for hands-on training (US Passport required).
  • Solid hands-on background. The ability to rely on previous experience or training to inspect and identify defects and failures within the truck and autonomous vehicle platforms. These range from visual to operational in nature.
  • Basic knowledge of DOT rules and requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and use a ladder for maintenance and repair.
  • Valid US driver’s license
  • Right to work in the US

Bonus Qualifications:

  • You have obtained electric vehicle high voltage certification.
  • Familiarity with autonomous sensors / systems
  • Valid class C driver’s license
