Description: Peru State has a staff of four full-time athletic trainers and sponsors 13 sports with approximately 400 athletes. We have three full service athletic training facilities on campus. The College is currently investing $20 million dollars in new recreational and athletic facilities. This is a 12-month position. Sport assignment will be based on department needs and discussed during interview, likely to be volleyball and cheerleading.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities: This position will provide preventative care, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Assist with the daily operation of the athletic training facility, including assisting with inventory, budget, and purchasing. Coverage of scheduled practices and games with post-season travel. Communication with coaches for assigned teams. Appropriate documentation of injuries, rehabilitation and doctor visits. Supervise intern athletic training students and student workers as necessary. Other duties as assigned by the head athletic trainer.
Requirements: BOC certification is required for employment however, applicants who are BOC certification eligible will be considered. Nebraska athletic training license or eligible to apply. Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or related field, master’s preferred. Previous experience in intercollegiate athletics is preferred. Should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work effectively with campus community. Position will require night and weekend hours. Valid driver’s license is required. Position is exempt with regard to FLSA overtime provisions. This position is covered by the NSCPA bargaining unit.
