Position Summary
The Department of Biological Sciences at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position from individuals who study the cellular and/or molecular events in the nervous system associated with health conditions and disease, including those using invertebrate and/or in vitro models. This position is one of several prestigious Simons Empire Faculty Fellowship hires at UB, which will enhance opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and engagement. Fellows will receive dedicated support from the Simons Foundation endowment.

- Develop a nationally-recognized, externally funded research program;
- Participate in research laboratory training of baccalaureate, masters and doctoral students; and
- Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses.
The University at Buffalo is the largest and most comprehensive campus in the State University of New York system with a tradition of research excellence in biology. The Department of Biological Sciences is the major focal point for interdisciplinary research and education in life sciences at the University at Buffalo. The Departments strengths in neuroscience include a focus on neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders, motor function, sensory signaling, central auditory processing, and motivated behaviors and cognition. The Department benefits from a rich umbrella program that includes scientists studying ecology, evolution, cell/molecular biology, as well as neuroscience. Opportunities for interdisciplinary interactions among UB, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the NYS Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences are available. The position will provide a 10-month salary in addition to a competitive startup package.
