The assistant teacher is responsible to assist the lead teacher to maintain a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children. The assistant also helps manage the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom, helps the lead teacher in developing a cohesive teaching team, assist with the curriculum, during instructional time. The assistant teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, and resolve parental concerns.
Duties
- Help coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
- Help plan individual and group age - appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
- Help maintain frequent communication with parents through informal and formal discussions, process reports, and parent-teacher conference.
- Ensure all center policies & state regulations are met.
- Help ensure a healthy classroom environment - including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
- Maintain accurate records, forms, and files.
- Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement .
