Description
ANIMAL LABORATORY SPECIALIST I
The Laboratory Animal Specialist I performs all duties essential to proper care of laboratory animals and specialized colonies within assigned areas. This position will work within the technical team as an Animal Laboratory Specialist I to provide animal care consistent with animal species requirements and established guidelines in the yellow room area. The position will be responsible for upkeep and general maintenance of equipment or systems and to perform physical assessments on animals and recognize signs of illness, and other duties as assigned. The position may involve any of the following: filing and organizing health records for campus wide health surveillance program and to maintain detail records of colonies and to maintain daily animal and room census records. The position may require report to internal and external agencies to ensure adherence to Federal, State and UAB procedures and requirements.
Hourly Salary Range: $15.50-$25.20
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED and one (1) year of related experience required. Certified at any level by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) preferred.
