About the job

Join the vivarium operations team as an Animal Care Technician in a state-of-the-art facility located in Redwood City, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Perform husbandry activities (care, feeding, sanitation) for rodent animal models in a regulated research environment.
  • Perform routine facility and equipment maintenance.
  • Document relevant husbandry and facility / equipment activities according to SOPs. 
  • Host clients visiting the vivarium, providing excellent customer service and a welcoming environment.
  • Maintain necessary inventory levels of supplies, ordering and rotating supplies as needed. 
  • Coordinate receipt of incoming animals and supplies.

Qualifications

  • 1-5 years of animal husbandry or cage washing experience in a regulated research environment
  • Experience with mice / rats / rodents
  • Customer-facing abilities: strong customer service skills and communication skills
  • Ability to self-manage your time; problem solving ability
  • High School Diploma Required; Associates or Bachelors degree is a Plus
  • ALAT certification is a Plus

Miscellaneous

  • Work schedule will be either Monday-Friday or Sunday-Thursday, 7am-3:30pm (including holidays)
  • Position is contract-to-hire
